During my stay in Preston earlier this year I drove up to Yorkshire a few times to explore the countryside and as per usual in the UK I was haunted by rain - which didn't keep me from trying though it was demotivating. Luckily I went up to Twistleton on a relatively dry day and on my way passed by some of the famous limestone pavements. My original plan was to hike the Ingleton Waterfalls trail that weekend but due to the massive flooding it was not possible to get any decent shots, so I simply changed routes and went up to to Twistleton Scar.

While shooting the limestone pavements heavy clouds with rain rolled in from the ocean (which lies just a couple of miles west) dissembling the sky and providing me with a nice ominous sky for this black and white shot. Sadly though the rest of my ascent was accompanied by fierce rain and wind keeping me from getting any shots from farther up.

Hi,

The way you captured this scenery in a very original way ist just refreshing. I can imagine how the capture would look like in color and so I think it was the right desicion to use black and white photography and a long time exposure as well.

Besides this the other aspects are also pretty neat. The angle you chose here creates a nice impact as you place the trees in the back. The viewer wants to follow the lines in front and automatically ends up at those trees. Very good job here.

The sky adds to the atmosphere. Your editing on this is solid. Nice balance between black and white.

In the end you've created a interesting piece of art with atmosphere of a scene that probably would be that interesting if captured in a different kind of way.

Jo
