I think if the world was to end it would look somewhat like this, the sun fading and wearing away losing it's former radiance becoming a dying star.

This is also a picture from Rügen, Baltic Sea from my tour with JanPusdrowski (here's a shot by him from the same location: finaldamnation.deviantart.com/… taken after sunset though). We drove to the north-western edge of the Island to gain a free horizonline without the Island Hiddensee in the composition which I found to be pretty distractive especially for low angle shots like this one. I actually started of with a 2 shot composition one for the forground and one for the sky but ended up simply using one exposure keeping the rather omnious feeling of the darker forground due to it's nice addition to this "end-of-the-world" feeling.

Great movement and timing, you truly captured the last essence of the sun:)

Thanks, glad you like my approach, too bad you lose the sun star when using a longer exposure :(

Thanks, I kept a little margenta cast from the filter but still they are pretty much natural to the motif. Glad you like'em. :)

Beautiful. I love the colours and how the clouds seem to move right when you look at them. The focus and sharpness is great and the light as well. Most of the colours seem soft, yet intense and I think that this made it very well done photo.

Thanks, I had very good lighting conditions though. It's not hard to take such a picture when you get the right light for it. :)

Yes, I know exactly that you mean. Still one had to take care that while working with light, the camera does not get the photo too light or too dark. Therefore it's still a bit of your own work as well.

Haha, no picture is perfect, I would've liked the yellow/orange line on the horizon to have filled all the horizon not just the right part and a little sun flare would've also been very nice I think. Not to mention that the cloud could've been more energetic as well. There's always a way to improve the picture. :D

Hehe, well it's always the same, the more time, money and effort you invest the more you get out. I'm sure that you will improve over time just like I do. Never losing ambition is the most important thing I guess. So you also keep it up. :)
